The Bharat Quotient is a brand scorecard. It rates a brand on four things, each out of 10: DNA, Product, Story and Global. The question behind it is simple: does the world know where this brand comes from, and why that matters?

DNA

How deeply the brand is rooted in Bharat: origin, craft, ingredients, people, ritual.

Product

How good the product is next to the best in the world.

Story

How well customers know where the brand comes from and why it matters.

Global

How far the brand travels: shelf space, awareness and demand beyond home.

The story gap

The score that matters most is the gap between what a brand is and what it tells:

Gap = max(DNA, Product) − Story

A large gap means the brand is better than the world knows. Darjeeling tea is the classic case: DNA 9, Story 6, a gap of 3. Closing that gap, by making the origin the brand, is usually the fastest growth lever a Business of Bharat has.
